4)- International technological standards

For many industries, governments, international organizations and major business interests push for technology standardization which is necessary for freer product mobility and acceleration of economic progress worldwide. Negotiations periodically bring key players in a given technological field to meetings aimed at harmonization of products and processes. For example, aircraft landing guiding equipment needs to be similar on all airports of the world. An analyst must be aware of such efforts to harmonize standards affecting the industry under study, because this is likely to bring product changes that companies do not develop internally.
